Mail With Si / Films

Below are the final film photos sent in and modelled by the participants from the Mail With Si project.

  In the beginning these photos were a way to capture the candid, honest, and un-curated experience of taking perfectly imperfect photos. Finally —to see the clothing on the person it was made for, worn with ease and with a mindfulness of the times, we can look back on the wild ride 2021 has been. The photos have done something much more than what was intended. The photos not only capture the fun, excitement and intimacy between the artist, the work and the wearer/participant, it was also a bridge to make interactive work at a distance, completely accessible. The film was also able to capture the beauty, laughter, and light, that gives us a sense of nostalgia for the freedom to play, create, and explore. 

These elements are absolutely a reflection of what this project has accomplished while creating the textiles, and designing the garments. This year long project was a way to expand and make work in a studio space that was like no other, expanding techniques and inspirations, in the physical and other sense. 

The film photos are kept safe in their physical form, and will be turned into a book/catalogue at some point in the future. But for now, we all get to share the experience of looking at the freshly developed film we've been anxiously… patiently awaiting.
